Paystack Launches $3M Program for Nigerian Small Businesses

Small business owners across Nigeria are getting a powerful new lifeline from one of Africa's most successful tech companies.

Paystack, a payment technology giant serving over 400,000 businesses across five African countries, just launched the Paystack Small Business Programme. The initiative targets 2,000 Nigerian small businesses with practical support designed to help them start, manage, and grow their operations.

The centerpiece is the Small Business Bundle, which gives eligible merchants access to up to 4 million Nigerian naira (about $3,000) in discounts on essential business tools. These aren't random perks but carefully selected services covering the areas entrepreneurs struggle with most: commerce platforms, bookkeeping, logistics, design, workspace access, customer communication, and digital tools.

Fourteen companies are partnering with Paystack to make it happen, including Bumpa, Canva, and Simplebks. Each offers discounted services that typically drain small business budgets before companies can gain traction.

Paystack isn't stopping at discounts either. The company plans to roll out two additional phases: the Small Business Launchpad and the Small Business Grant. While details on these later stages remain under wraps, they signal a long-term commitment beyond quick fixes.

The timing matters tremendously. Nigeria has Africa's largest economy and a booming entrepreneurial spirit, but small businesses often collapse before they can scale. Access to affordable tools and funding separates businesses that survive from those that thrive.
