Pennsylvania Offers $250K in Scholarships for 250th Birthday

The America250PA Semiquin Scholarship program is awarding $250,000 in scholarships to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary. Twenty-five Pennsylvania high school seniors will each receive $10,000 toward the 2026-2027 school year at any accredited Pennsylvania college or university.

But the good news gets even better. Several Pennsylvania universities are matching the scholarship awards, meaning some students could receive up to $20,000 total.

Allegheny College is offering an additional $8,000 spread over four years. Westminster College and the University of Pittsburgh are each matching the full $10,000 with $2,500 per year over four years.

Point Park University and Duquesne University are also matching the entire $10,000 scholarship. That means a student who wins the Semiquin Scholarship and attends one of these schools could start college with $20,000 in financial support.

The program makes applying simple. High school seniors planning to attend a Pennsylvania college can submit their applications through the America250PA website until January 31, 2026.
