Sierra Leone Opens Innovation Hub for Young Entrepreneurs

Young entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone now have a powerful new launchpad for their dreams.

Fourah Bay College officially opened a UniPod innovation hub in July 2026, giving students and young innovators access to everything they need to transform ideas into thriving businesses. The country's Chief Minister launched the facility, marking a major step forward for Sierra Leone's startup ecosystem.

The UniPod provides three essential resources that many young African entrepreneurs struggle to find: experienced mentorship, collaborative workspace, and dedicated innovation support. Instead of working alone in isolation, innovators can now connect with advisors who understand the journey from concept to working prototype to sustainable company.

The hub specifically targets local and regional problems that need solving. Young entrepreneurs can develop technology solutions while learning the business skills required to scale them effectively. This practical approach bridges the gap between having a great idea and building something that actually works in the real world.

UNDP Sierra Leone and UniPod Sierra Leone partnered to create the facility as part of a broader movement across Africa. The goal is simple: make entrepreneurship support accessible to more young people by connecting universities, development organizations, and private sector partners.
