Singer Forgives Fan Who Put Gum in Her Hair 20 Years Ago

Sometimes the best concert moments have nothing to do with the music.

Singer Natalie Jane was performing the final show of her world tour at Charlotte's Neighborhood Theatre on March 25 when she spotted an unusual sign in the crowd. She stopped mid-performance to read it: "Do you remember me from 2nd grade?"

Curious, Jane asked the fan to identify himself. He flipped the sign over to reveal the back: "I put gum in your hair."

Jane let out a shriek. "Benji! I hate you!" she yelled, pointing at him as the crowd erupted. "I had to cut my hair out because of you."

What happened next caught everyone off guard. Benji didn't laugh it off or disappear into the crowd. Instead, he offered a sincere apology in front of hundreds of strangers.

"You were in town. I had to come by and say I'm sorry for many years ago," he told her. Then someone handed Jane a bouquet of roses that Benji had brought.

Her response was immediate and genuine. "Benji, you are forgiven. Thank you. I love you," she said into the mic before continuing the show. She whipped her long blonde hair around (the same hair Benji once stuck gum in) and galloped across the stage.
