South Korea Offers Free Tech Degrees to Cambodian Students

Cambodian students who dream of studying technology abroad but can't afford it just got a life-changing opportunity from an unexpected place.

The State University of New York Korea campus in Incheon is offering full scholarships to outstanding Cambodian students through its Shared Prosperity Scholarship program. Students who earn these spots will receive American technology degrees identical to those awarded in the United States, completely free.

Cambodian Ambassador to South Korea Khuon Phon Ratanak met with Eugene Pak, the university's dean of external relations, in Seoul on Friday to discuss bringing these opportunities home. The ambassador immediately promised to work with Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to spread the word and help identify qualified candidates.

The timing couldn't be better for Cambodia's goals. The country's government has made developing skilled workers a top priority through its Pentagonal Strategy, which focuses specifically on helping talented students who face money problems when trying to study overseas.

This partnership represents more than just individual scholarships. By investing in students from developing nations, SUNY Korea is creating a pipeline of technology talent that will return home with cutting-edge skills and international connections.
