SpaceX Launches 2 Rockets 38 Minutes Apart, Sets Record

SpaceX just made space history feel almost ordinary, launching two rockets from Florida and California within 38 minutes of each other.

On Saturday evening, the first Falcon 9 lifted off from Cape Canaveral at 9:12 p.m., carrying eight satellites for telecommunications company Globalstar. Just 38 minutes later, a second rocket roared to life at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, launching the classified USSF-366 mission for the U.S. Space Force.

The double launch crushed SpaceX's previous record of 65 minutes between flights, set in August 2024. What makes this even more impressive? Both rocket boosters successfully landed back on Earth, ready to fly again.

The first booster touched down at Cape Canaveral about eight minutes after launch, completing its 14th mission. The second landed on a drone ship in the Pacific Ocean, marking its 18th flight.

Globalstar's eight satellites deployed perfectly over a six-minute window, expanding telecommunications coverage across low Earth orbit. The Space Force mission remains classified, though experts believe it may involve Starshield satellites—modified Starlink craft designed for national security purposes.

This achievement shows how reusable rockets are transforming space access from expensive and rare to affordable and routine. SpaceX has already completed 96 launches in 2026 alone, with about 75% dedicated to expanding its Starlink internet constellation that now serves nearly 11,000 satellites.
