The engineering is impressive. The ambulance carries 542 solar cells, with 326 built into the roof and 216 on panels that extend outward for extra power. A 50 kilowatt hour battery stores the energy, and the whole vehicle weighs just 1,350 kilograms while reaching speeds up to 120 kilometers per hour.

The Ripple Effect spreads far beyond the Netherlands. In August, the student team will take Stella Juva to Kenya to test how it performs delivering healthcare in real conditions. They're working directly with healthcare organizations to make sure the design meets actual needs on the ground.

About 1 billion people worldwide lack access to basic healthcare, often because facilities are too far away or lack reliable power. Solar ambulances could reach communities that conventional medical vehicles can't serve consistently.
