Subaru Unveils 420-HP Electric SUV With 300-Mile Range

Subaru just proved that family-friendly electric vehicles can be seriously fun. The automaker unveiled its all-new 2027 Getaway at the New York International Auto Show, and it's packing 420 horsepower with room for seven people.

The all-electric SUV represents a major leap forward for drivers who want sustainability without sacrificing capability. With dual electric motors powering all four wheels, the Getaway rockets from zero to 60 mph in less than five seconds while delivering more than 300 miles of range on a single charge.

Subaru designed the Getaway for real-world adventures, not just showroom appeal. The SUV features 8.3 inches of ground clearance and a specialized off-road system with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes, making it ready for trails as well as highways.

Families will appreciate the thoughtful interior layout. Six-footers can sit comfortably in all three rows, and the second-row seats fold with one touch for easy access to the back. With the third row down, cargo space expands to 45.6 cubic feet, beating the popular Kia EV9.

Charging concerns get addressed with practical solutions. The standard charging port works at over 25,000 Superchargers across North America, and the battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes at 150-kW speeds. A built-in preconditioning system keeps charging efficient even in 14-degree weather.

The Getaway comes equipped with modern conveniences that make long trips easier. Every seat gets cup holders and USB-C charging ports, while three-zone climate control keeps everyone comfortable. A 14-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital dashboard come standard, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
