Texas AI Campus to Run on 100% Wind Power

Imagine an artificial intelligence center the size of 300 football fields running entirely on Texas wind. That's exactly what's coming to Briscoe County, where Soluna Computing just purchased 397 acres for a groundbreaking renewable-first AI campus.

The company closed the deal in September 2026 for what they're calling Project Dorothy 3, a 300-megawatt computing facility that will plug directly into clean energy. This isn't just another data center; it's a blueprint for how technology and sustainability can work hand in hand.

Soluna already owns the 150-megawatt Briscoe Wind Farm right next door, purchased this past April. The wind farm's substation sits directly across from the newly purchased property, meaning the AI campus will have direct access to power the company controls completely.

This setup solves one of the biggest challenges in green computing: reliability. When you own both the energy source and the facility using it, you eliminate the middleman and the uncertainty.

The new site joins Projects Dorothy 1 and Dorothy 2, creating a cluster of renewable-powered computing in the heart of Texas wind country. Texas generates over 30% of America's wind electricity, with more than 40,000 megawatts of capacity across nearly 200 wind farms.

Soluna's approach shows how the clean energy transition isn't just about replacing old power sources. It's about reimagining entire industries from the ground up.

The company designs data centers specifically to be co-located with wind, solar, or hydroelectric plants, transforming surplus renewable energy into computing power for AI, bitcoin mining, and other intensive applications. Their proprietary software, MaestroOS, helps balance the grid while delivering sustainable solutions.

CEO John Belizaire captured the significance perfectly: "Customers evaluating AI sites want to know how quickly we can get them to power. Owning this land takes one more variable out of that answer."

Project Dorothy 3 is part of Soluna's massive development pipeline of roughly 6.3 gigawatts across multiple sites. The company currently operates an estimated 192 megawatts of energized capacity and is growing fast.

The extra 97 acres beyond their initial 300-acre plan gives them room to expand in ways they might not have anticipated. More space means more possibilities for innovation.
