Thailand Launches 3-Year AI Training Program for Workers

Thailand is betting big on artificial intelligence, and this time it's putting people at the center of the plan.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation just partnered with the Artificial Intelligence Association of Thailand to launch "AI Love U," a three-year program designed to train a new generation of AI professionals. The formal agreement was signed in Bangkok, bringing together government leaders and tech industry experts who share a vision of Thailand as an AI innovator, not just a technology user.

Dr Panphermsak Arunee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the ministry, made the goal clear. "Building a high-quality AI workforce is essential for driving Thailand towards an innovation-based economy and ensuring competitiveness on the global stage," he said at the signing ceremony.

The program tackles a problem many countries face: lots of interest in AI, but not enough people with the right skills to do the work. Right now, Thailand struggles with a shortage of qualified AI talent and inconsistent training standards that leave workers unprepared for real jobs.

The solution comes in four parts. First, a central management office will coordinate efforts across government departments to eliminate duplicate programs and wasted resources. Second, an employer platform will connect workers with companies that need their skills. Third, a guidance center will help people understand AI careers and access training. Fourth, and perhaps most importantly, Thailand will create nationally recognized AI certifications that meet international standards.

The Ripple Effect

This isn't just about individual careers. The initiative aims to strengthen Thailand's entire AI ecosystem across healthcare, finance, logistics and creative industries. By standardizing skills and creating clear career pathways, the program ensures that training today leads to meaningful employment tomorrow.

The collaboration brings together universities, vocational schools, professional organizations and private companies. Everyone works from the same playbook, ensuring students and workers learn skills that employers actually need.

Dr Panphermsak believes this approach will generate real economic benefits. "We firmly believe that this partnership will deliver tangible results, positioning Thailand as a global AI innovator," he said.

Thailand is showing the world that preparing for an AI-driven economy starts with preparing people first.
