Tullamore Gets 60 New Jobs as Wendy's Opens in May

Tullamore is about to get a taste of American fast food and a healthy serving of new employment opportunities.

Corrib Oil announced it will open Ireland's second Wendy's restaurant at Tullamore Retail Park in May, creating 60 jobs for the County Offaly town. The news comes just months after the first Irish Wendy's opened in Cork last October, marking the chain's return to Ireland after previous attempts decades ago.

The partnership between Corrib Oil and Wendy's represents more than just one restaurant opening. Corrib plans to launch 10 Wendy's locations across Ireland over the coming years, combining standalone restaurants with locations at select Corrib Oil service stations.

That expansion will create more than 300 jobs nationwide, spreading economic opportunity beyond major cities to communities throughout the country. For Tullamore, a town of about 15,000 people, 60 new positions represent a meaningful boost to local employment.

The Ripple Effect

The jobs extend beyond the counter workers and kitchen staff you might expect. Restaurant openings create positions in management, training, supply chain coordination, and maintenance. Local suppliers often benefit too, from food distributors to cleaning services to uniform providers.

Michael Clarke, Managing Director for Europe at The Wendy's Company, praised Corrib Oil as a strong partner in bringing what he called a "globally great, locally loved" experience to Irish customers. The phased rollout approach gives the companies time to adapt their American menu and service model to Irish tastes and expectations.
