Uganda Hospital Celebrates 30 Years With Free Health Clinics

A healthcare network in Uganda is celebrating 30 years of service by giving back to the community that made it all possible.

C-Care Uganda launched its anniversary festivities at Capital Shoppers Ntinda with a free medical outreach event. Hundreds of Kampala residents received complimentary blood pressure checks, malaria and hepatitis screening, diabetes testing, HIV testing, and general wellness assessments.

The celebration marked a remarkable journey that began in 1996 when Ian Clarke founded the organization with a simple mission: improve healthcare standards in Uganda. What started as a single facility has grown into a leading healthcare network that now includes International Hospital Kampala and International Medical Centres across the country.

For many attendees like Fatuma Ntale, the event provided something priceless. She finally accessed a medical checkup she had postponed for months, showing how bringing services directly to communities removes barriers to care.

Sheila Aboth, Head of Brand and Client Experience at C-Care Uganda, reflected on what the milestone means. "When we asked the people we serve how they feel about C-Care, they told us they trust us, respect us, and believe we will continue growing stronger," she shared at the event.

The celebration included more than medical services. A flash mob performance themed "Legacy & Future" featured professional dancers and the organization's mascot, creating a festive atmosphere while symbolizing C-Care's ongoing commitment to community wellness.

The Ripple Effect

C-Care's three decades of growth mirror Uganda's broader healthcare transformation. The organization joined the CIEL Group in recent years, strengthening its capacity to serve more patients while maintaining the patient-centered approach that built community trust.

The free screenings detected health issues in attendees who might otherwise have gone undiagnosed. Early detection of conditions like diabetes, hepatitis, and hypertension can be life-changing, turning potential health crises into manageable conditions with proper care.

By choosing to celebrate with service rather than ceremony alone, C-Care reinforced a core value: healthcare works best when it reaches people where they are. The Ntinda outreach demonstrated that anniversary celebrations can create immediate, tangible benefits for communities.

As C-Care Uganda continues its anniversary year, the organization remains focused on expanding access to quality care across the country, proving that looking back and moving forward can happen simultaneously.
