UK Charity Breaks Records with $209M in Donations

Christian funding charity Stewardship just shattered its own records, processing $209 million in donations in 2025, a stunning 49% jump from the previous year. The UK-based organization then turned around and distributed $174 million across 12,000 churches, charities, and Christian workers who support communities in need.

For the first time in the charity's history, they handed out more than 1 million individual grants. That's 1 million separate times someone said yes to funding a food bank, a youth program, a community outreach effort, or support for a church worker's salary.

The numbers tell an even better story when you look at how quickly Stewardship moves money to where it's needed. Their grant payout rate hit 68%, more than double the UK average for similar organizations. That means donations don't sit idle. They get to work fast.

CEO Janie Oliver said the timing couldn't be better. "In a season when many churches and charities are navigating real pressures, it has been deeply encouraging to witness the resilience of our donors," she explained. Many nonprofits have struggled with rising costs and declining support, making this funding surge a lifeline.

The Ripple Effect

Behind the headline numbers are real people getting real help. A single mom's rent gets paid through a church emergency fund. A youth center stays open for after-school programs. A charity worker in a struggling neighborhood keeps their job instead of getting laid off.

The charity added nearly 900 new partner organizations in 2025, expanding its reach. Their annual Lent campaign drew 43,000 participants who contributed $390,000 in additional one-time gifts, showing that generosity comes in all sizes.

Stewardship also launched a podcast called Active Generosity and grew its support services, helping 527 churches and charities with accounting and consulting. The organization uses what it calls a "Kingdom Impact" investment approach, aligning its assets with Christian values and UN sustainability goals.

One large $42 million donation helped drive the record year, but removing even that outlier still shows healthy 20% growth in regular giving. People are choosing to be generous even in uncertain economic times, and that generosity is keeping thousands of community programs alive and thriving.
