Take FA Bio's "living" biopesticide, which uses beneficial fungi to protect wheat and oilseed rape crops from destructive pests like aphids and cabbage stem flea beetles. Farmers apply it once at planting, and it provides season-long protection without repeated chemical spraying. That means lower costs and less environmental impact while still protecting harvests.

Another innovation tackles one of Britain's biggest environmental challenges: getting trees to survive and thrive. Rhizocore has figured out which native fungi work best to help trees establish strong roots in different soils. Healthier trees mean faster carbon capture, better woodland recovery, and more successful agroforestry projects.

Farming Minister Dame Angela Eagle says the investment focuses on getting practical, proven technology into farmers' hands faster. The tools address real daily challenges, from improving animal health to cutting costs and making demanding jobs easier.
