Vancleave High Wins First Bowling State Title in History

For the first time in school history, the Vancleave High School boys bowling team rolled their way into the record books with a Class II State Championship title.

The Bulldogs traveled north from Jackson County, Mississippi, and dominated the competition with an impressive overall score of 3,870 points. Their confidence showed from the opening frames when they posted a season-high 1,074 points in the first game alone.

Senior Hunter Lyles and sophomore Ayden Bates earned All-State honors for their outstanding individual performances. Lyles finished with 905 points while Bates scored 875, both landing in the top five bowlers statewide.

The championship came right after the team's recent Regional win, building momentum that carried them all the way to the state title. Head Coach Eric Kotowski and his players spoke about what this historic achievement means to their school and community.

The Ripple Effect

This victory represents more than just a trophy for Vancleave High School. It shows students across the school that dedication to any sport, even ones that don't always get the spotlight, can lead to extraordinary achievements.

The championship also puts Vancleave on the map in Mississippi high school athletics. For a program making its first appearance in the state title conversation, the Bulldogs proved they belong among the best.

The celebration isn't over yet for Vancleave's bowling stars. Lyles and Bates will compete for individual state titles on Friday, giving them another chance to add to their school's growing legacy in the sport.
