Volvo's newest electric SUV just delivered a pleasant surprise: it can travel farther on a single charge than the company originally promised. The 2027 EX60 earned an EPA rating of 330 miles, beating Volvo's estimate by eight miles and marking the longest range of any electric vehicle the Swedish automaker has ever produced.

The timing couldn't be better for American drivers ready to make the switch to electric. Deliveries of the midsize SUV begin in the US this month, with the base model starting at just $58,400. That price point puts it thousands below competitors like the Genesis Electrified GV70 ($64,380) and Audi Q6 e-tron ($63,800).

But the EX60 isn't just about affordable sticker prices. The SUV features an 800-volt electrical system that adds 165 miles of range in just 10 minutes of charging. That's roughly the time it takes to grab a coffee and stretch your legs on a road trip.

Volvo designed the EX60 as its first vehicle on the new SPA3 platform, packing it with features that used to be reserved for luxury models. Even the base version comes with a 15-inch touchscreen, Google's built-in assistant with Gemini AI, a 21-speaker Bose sound system, and Volvo's comprehensive safety package.

The SUV also arrives as the first Volvo with a built-in Tesla charging port. That means drivers can pull up to any of the 29,000+ Tesla Superchargers across North America without fumbling for an adapter.

The EX60's competitive pricing and impressive specs signal a turning point for electric vehicles. For years, going electric meant choosing between range, features, or affordability. Volvo's new SUV delivers all three, pushing other automakers to step up their game.

Sweden already received its first deliveries last week, and production is ramping up fast. For drivers who want even more range, Volvo plans to release the EX60 P12 AWD later this year with an estimated 400-mile range.
