Wyoming County Invests $278K in Youth Mental Health Care

Campbell County, Wyoming just committed serious resources to help kids who need it most.

The county approved $278,000 in treatment agreements to expand mental health and substance abuse services for young people. The timing couldn't be better. Local juvenile probation and youth treatment court cases climbed from 142 to 154 as students returned to school this fall.

The YES House will receive $169,993 to provide crisis intervention, family support services, and both day and outpatient treatment specifically for adolescents. Stepstone Counseling got approved for adult services to ensure families have comprehensive support.

County officials also invested $84,794 to place an at-risk transition coordinator within Campbell County School District. This person will help identify struggling students earlier and connect them with resources before small problems become major crises.

Director Jim Lyon from Community Juvenile Services noted the rising caseload prompted the county to act quickly. Getting help to kids in their community, rather than sending them away for treatment, means families can stay connected during recovery.
