Crescent Moon Joins Venus and Jupiter in Night Sky Show

Step outside after sunset this week and look west for one of nature's most beautiful free shows: the crescent Moon dancing between two of the brightest planets in our solar system.

Venus and Jupiter have been stealing the show in May's evening sky, with Venus hugging the horizon and Jupiter shining high above. This week, the thin crescent Moon joins them, creating a stunning three-body view that anyone can enjoy with just their eyes.

Each night, the Moon hops eastward across the sky while the planets stay put. By May 20th, the slightly fuller crescent sits above Jupiter, forming a line with Castor and Pollux, the twin stars of Gemini. The Moon continues its journey higher and eastward through May 21st.
