Fife Bowling Club Gets £500 to Bring Kids to the Sport

A bowling club in Newburgh, Scotland is making sure the next generation gets their turn on the green.

Newburgh Bowling Club received £500 from Persimmon Homes North Scotland to purchase equipment for young players and upgrade locker room facilities. The donation came through the homebuilder's Community Champions scheme, which supports groups in areas where the company develops new homes.

The club is partnering with the local primary school to introduce children to bowling. Leaders hope that bringing kids to the sport will encourage whole families to join, creating a pipeline of new members who will keep the club alive for decades to come.

The funding will buy bowls, shoes and mats sized for junior players. These basics often create a barrier for families considering the sport, since adult equipment doesn't work well for smaller hands and feet.
