Ghana Mining Foundation Breaks Ground on 13 Projects

Children in nine Ghanaian communities will soon have better schools, their families will have improved healthcare access, and entire villages will gain new gathering spaces.

The ZiJin Akyem Development Foundation broke ground this week on 13 infrastructure projects worth over $1 million across the Birim North District. The developments will serve Old Abirem, New Abirem, Afosu, Adausena, Mamanso, Hweakwae, Praso Kuma, Akrofonso, and Amanfrom.

The projects focus on three critical areas: education and youth development, community infrastructure and wellbeing, and livelihood and cultural support. Each project was chosen based on what communities said they needed most.

"These projects represent more than concrete and steel," said Yufeng Li, Chief Operating Officer of ZiJin Golden Ridge Limited. "They are opportunities for children to grow, for families to live healthier, and for communities to prosper."

The foundation worked closely with local leaders to identify where investments would make the biggest difference. Samuel Ofosu Agyei, Executive Secretary of ZADeF, emphasized that community input shaped every decision about what to build and where.

Local chiefs welcomed the partnership with enthusiasm. Osabarima Asiedu Akora II, Chief of Akyem Ntronang, pledged community support for the construction and called for open communication throughout the process.

The impact of these 13 projects will extend far beyond their physical structures. Better schools mean more children can attend class closer to home instead of walking long distances. Improved health facilities mean families can get medical care faster when emergencies strike.

Community centers provide spaces for gatherings, celebrations, and local decision-making that strengthen social bonds. When young people see investment in their hometowns, they're more likely to build their futures there instead of migrating to cities.
