India and Norway Partner for $100B Green Energy Investment

India and Norway signed the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement in March 2024, which took effect in October 2025. The pact commits $100 billion in investments to India over 15 years and promises to create one million direct jobs focused on green technology and sustainable industries.

Norway complements this growth with expertise in low-carbon technologies, offshore wind systems, and carbon capture. The Nordic nation has decades of experience managing energy transitions while maintaining economic growth.

The maritime sector offers particularly exciting opportunities. Norway's expertise in building autonomous vessels and developing green shipping solutions will combine with India's extensive shipbuilding facilities and 7,500 kilometers of coastline dotted with major ports.

In seafood and aquaculture, Norwegian cold-chain technology and fish farming innovations could transform India's massive fisheries industry, especially in coastal states like Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu.

The digital economy represents another frontier. As artificial intelligence and data-driven systems expand globally, the partnership aims to build energy-efficient data centers powered by renewable sources, drawing on Norway's experience with sustainable digital infrastructure.
