Pawcast App Protects Dog Paws Across 50 States

Every dog lover knows the joy of reaching for the leash, but hidden pavement heat can quickly turn a happy walk into a painful ordeal. A clever new weather tool now ensures our four-legged friends stay safe and comfortable on every outing.

Entrepreneur Clay Bartlett and a dedicated team of veterinarians created Pawcast by Weather.pet to solve a major blind spot in pet care. The innovative app forecasts ground temperatures right at the level of a dog's head and paws.

Bartlett realized the urgent need for better data while standing outside a Texas conference with an infrared thermometer. While the air temperature hovered at 98 degrees, the scorching asphalt registered a dangerous 131 degrees.

That massive 33-degree difference can easily scorch sensitive paw pads within minutes. Bartlett teamed up with Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Hilary Jones to replace outdated guidelines with modern science.

Their team spent a year measuring thousands of surface temperatures across the country on grass, concrete, and asphalt. They gathered readings across busy cities, quiet suburbs, and rural parks to build an accurate ground-level weather model.

The resulting app calculates a customized "Dog Feel" temperature for every pup. It factors in breed, coat thickness, weight, and age to give pet owners precise safety estimates for specific walking routes.

The service has already sent out 28,000 weather alerts to more than 2,000 dog parents across all 50 states. Pet owners can now check surface safety with a quick glance before heading out the door.

The Bright Side

By transforming daily weather data into practical pet protection, this technology gives dog owners total peace of mind. Pups everywhere can now enjoy healthy outdoor exercise without risking burned paws or heat distress.

With each walk safely planned, dogs and their humans can explore the world with happy steps and wagging tails.
